GRASSO, Pete Sr. 87, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Hospice Woodside. Born in Filbert, WV, he came here in 1955, from Welch, WV. He retired as division manager from Sears & Roebuck after 31 years, and worked as a funeral director for Brett Funeral Home for over 25 years. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion Post 14. He was a lifetime member, and twice president of the St. Pete Evening Lions Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of Italy John Paul Lodge and the Holy Name Society. He was a long time member of the Cathedral of St. Jude, where he served as captain of the usher corps. He was past president of the St. Vincent dePaul Society, and was a recipient of the St. Jude Medal. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret; a daughter, Anne (Charlie) Wilson; three sons, Joe (Rosemary), Pete Jr. (Dawn), and Nick (Nanette); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3:30-6 pm on Thursday, May 3rd, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1800 12th St. No. A Sons of Italy service will take place at 3:30 pm, and a prayer vigil will take place at 5 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10 am Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial with military honors to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
