HEGNER, Ralph W. Sr. 101, of Seminole, passed away Feb. 20, 2013 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ralph was born April 19, 1911, in Chicago, IL, to John F. and Flora Matas Hegner. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marian Kroeplin Hegner, and their son, Ralph W. Hegner, Jr. Ralph was an Army Veteran of WWII, on active duty for five years, serving as an Armor Instructor at Ft. Knox, KY and served in the 9th Armored Division during the European spearhead. Ralph was awarded the Silver Star and five campaign stars. He was the Purchasing Director for Kearns United Corp., an Industrial Lubricants Company for the steel and automotive industry. He was a Pinellas County Special Deputy Sheriff under 3 Sheriffs, was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, member of the Chicago Police Sergeant Association, and a Kentucky Colonel. Ralph came to Florida in 1969 from his native Chicago, and became a member of Seminole United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother Clarence and sisters Adeline and Irene. Visitation will be tomorrow, Wednesday Feb. 27, from 9 am, with Service beginning at 10 am, at Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home, 9700 Seminole Blvd., Seminole.
