SCHULTZ, Robert H. "Bob" 88, of Largo, died June 26, 2013. Born in Jackson, MI, on July 4, 1924, Bob was the son of John and Bertha (Gavett) Schultz. In 1946, Bob was united in marriage to Agnes Konkle and together, they had two sons, Timothy and David. After Agnes passed away, Bob married Lavada Scott with whom he shared 17 years. Bob was a devout Catholic, who was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole and most recently, St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church in Seminole. Bob moved from Michigan to Florida in 1960 where he worked at Clearwater Honeywell for 20 years. After retiring, he taught 11 years at Clearwater Vocational Tech School. Bob served as the first President of the Florida Honeywell Retirees' Club, and was a member of the Minnreg Association and the Honeybelles. A decorated veteran of WWII, Bob joined the United States Marine Corps in 1942, later receiving a Presidential Citation (Battle of Tarawa) and being awarded the Purple Heart (Battle of Tinian, 1944). Bob was a life member of the National Second Marine Division Association, the Founder and Past President of the Florida Chapter of the Second Marine Division Association, and a member of chapters in several other states. Bob joined the Elks Club in 1950 and was a member of Lodge 2519 in Seminole. He was a life member of VFW Post 4364 and American Legion Post 104 in Pinellas Park, the Purple Heart Association, the DAV, the Marine Corps League and the Amvets Post 8 in St. Petersburg. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Agnes; his parents; and brothers, Arthur and Jack. Surviving are his wife, Lavada; sons, Timothy (Susan) of Alamogordo, New MM, and David (Michelle) of St. Petersburg; grandchildren, Lisa, Zoey, Agnes & Theodore; great-grandchildren, Chase and John; stepdaughter, Linda Lamar of Huntsville, AL; and sister, Pearl Sanford of Hanover, MI. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 16th, at 10 am, at E. James Reese Funeral Home, Seminole, with refreshments at the Elks Club, 10717 Seminole Blvd. immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project ( in Bob's honor would be appreciated. Interment will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
