Mary Helen (Jantz) COPELAND


COPELAND, Mary Helen (Jantz), 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2013, surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Copeland; her daughter, Earlene Dawn Griffin; her mother and father, Andrew and Martha Jantz; and her siblings. Mary was born on Dec. 22, 1926 in Syracuse, Kansas. She was the youngest of seven kids born to Andrew and Martha Jantz. She graduated Syracuse High School in Syracuse, KS in 1944. Mary moved to Tampa, Florida in June of 1959. She met Al Copeland and married Nov. 17, 1979. Mary retired from the University of South Florida in 1987 and became active in her neighborhood Civic Association. Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She had a good life and loved her family dearly. She was a member of the Seminole Church of Christ. She will be missed by all who loved her. Mary is survived by her family: son, Joseph Stephens; Sue Lepisto, whom she loved as her daughter; Carolyn Roe, Donna LaBarbera, Anne Coates, Daniel Lloyd Copeland, Kenneth Roger Copeland, and Connie Copeland Joplin; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her cat, Tommy. Remember her smile. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 30th at 10 am with the service at 11 am at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood, FL.
