ATKINS, Nancy Ellen Humes 87, died Oct. 6, 2013 in Huntsville, AL, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Tampa, she was born Jan. 18, 1926 to Karl and Phillis Humes on Watrous Avenue, NSB. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names and the University of Tampa. She taught for 29 years at St. John's Episcoal Parish Day School. Nancy was an avid reader, a life-long learner, and an accomplished artist. A true Floridian, her favorite destination was the Gulf of Mexico where she would go shelling and looking for sharks' teeth. She is survived by three daughters, Robin and Linden Atkins of Tampa, Julie (Doug) Robertson of Huntsville, and four grandchildren, James and Caroline Cooper (Tony Fer-nandez), Halley and John Martin. She will be missed for her optimism and love of life and beauty. At her request, there will be no service.
