SULLIVAN, Marie Powell loving mother and friend passed away prayerfully on Oct. 25, 2013 surrounded by her devoted family. A resident of St. Petersburg since 1953, Marie was a well known business leader (Marie Powell/ Better Homes and Gardens), former president of Florida Association of Realtors, and chairman of the Florida Real Estate Commission. Marie also was active in numerous community organizations; served as chairman for Seniors for George W. Bush's campaign, and served on the board of directors of Cornerstone Community Bank. A devout Catholic, she devoted much of her time to the works of the Church, including the Catholic Education Foundation. Marie is survived by her children, Donna Parker (Scott), Jack Powell, Cathi Deeb (Rick), Laurie Neiman (Joe), Mary Lou Bosson (Rich) and Karen Barnett (Michael); 19 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Marie is predeceased by her husbands, Francis "Sully" Sullivan and John "Jack" Powell and her daughter, Margie Gibson (Monte) and her pooch Clancey. Marie had a generous spirit and cheerful demeanor, always ready and willing to help others to succeed. She was cherished deeply by many, and she resides in their hearts. Her legacy will certainly carry on for generations to come. Services will be held at the Cathedral of St. Jude on Wednesday, Oct. 30 with visitation starting at 3:30 pm followed by funeral Mass at 4:30 pm.
