EDMUNDS, Dorothy Elsa Agurk Born on Oct. 25, 1922, and passed away on Oct. 17, 2013. Born in Cleveland, OH, to Walter F. Agurk and Elsie Pecsok Agurk, Dorothy grew up in Cleveland and Madison, OH, and in St. Petersburg, attending classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art and graduating from St. Petersburg High School. She attended St. Petersburg Jr. College and The College of William and Mary where she joined Kappa Alpha Theta. August 11, 1945, she married David E. Edmunds of Cleveland. Afterward, she studied sculpture at the University of Michigan and worked as an assistant to sculptor Avard Fairbanks before moving to Clearwater with her husband in 1948. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and friend, and an active member of the local community. She was a member and President of the Clearwater Junior League, a member of the Florida Gulf Coast Art Center, where she served as the founding President of the Fine Arts Society and as Director, and she served on The Pinellas County Historical Commission. Other affiliations include Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, The Abilities Guild, Heritage Village, Bucketeers, Carlouel Yacht Club, Clearwater Yacht Club, The Pinellas County Historical Society, The Stuart Society, The St. Petersburg Museum of Art, and Questers.She also travelled throughout the U.S. and the world with her husband and children, welcoming people from all over the world into her home. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Linda Dicks and Susan Edmunds; son-in-law, Jack Dicks; her granddaughters, Jennifer Dicks Burg, Lindsay Dicks Penaranda, and Lizzie Dement; great-granddaughters, Kendal Burg and Sydney Burg; sons-in-law, Robert Burg & Eric Penaranda; and German daughter, Dorthea Vahl Schlumberger who became part of the family as an AFS exchange student. Dorothy passed away in Altamonte Springs while staying with her daughters. A service was held on Oct. 23rd at Maitland Presbyterian Church.
