Elbert Merrick Obituary
E.J. graduated from Milton High School in 2012 where he was a member of the NJROTC. He was presently enlisting to go in the United States Army. He loved heavy metal music, playing the guitar, was an avid X-Box Player and a Michael Creighton fan. He loved to write and had actually had a short poetry book published.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Melinda & Brian Kohlhaas of Milton; his father, Elbert Lee Merrick II of Ft. Valley, VA; his sister, Nicole-Lynn Cook of Dauphin Island, AL; his maternal grandmother, Catherine Morris of Smyrna , Delaware and maternal grandfather, Paul Christian Turbitt Sr of Hurlock, Maryland; paternal grandparents, Wilma & Sonny Merrick of Ft. Valley, VA and George J. Kohlhaas of Milton, FL; numerous aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
In accordance with E.J.'s wishes, he will be cremated. A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
National Cremation & Burial Society of Milton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Elbert was such a down to earth guy and always made an effort to recognize everyone he was playing games with. I'm heartbroken that something so wrong could happen to such a gentleman. Please accept my condolences as even though we never met in person, He'll always have a place in my heart.
