The family of Gerry Clarke is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Gerry will be remembered by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean; sons, John and Stephen (Anne); granddaughters, Meaghan and Abigail; his sister, Margaret and brother, Tony.

He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Maggie; his brothers, Tommy, Paddy and Neeshie; as well as John's wife, Arlene.

Gerry was born on May 4, 1929 in Goshen, Scotland. He bravely immigrated to Canada in June, 1956 followed by his wife and two children in December, 1956. They worked in several interesting small northern communities: Atikokan, Ontario, Matagami, Quebec, Fort McMurray, Alberta, and finally on to St. Albert, Alberta. There was much fun and many friends!

Gerry was an avid reader, took great pleasure in sports (especially curling), loved to travel, loved to talk, loved music and had a fine baritone voice. He loved to dance and did a fine "dashing white sergeant", jive and waltz at the Pally (Palais de Danse) in Edinburgh. He never went to bed without kissing his wife goodnight and loved his children, grandchildren and family. Gerry enjoyed Burns suppers and sipping a wee dram of scotch or Drambuie. He had a great, warm smile and we bid him a fond farewell and all our love.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial family celebration was held at the columbarium vaults at the St. Albert Cemetery to the live, piper tunes of "Amazing Grace" and "Mairi's Wedding".

As per Gerry's wishes there will be no service.

Donations may be made to The War Amps of Canada, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, Ontario, M1V 5K9.
