Powell, Eleanor J.
Eleanor J. Powell, a resident of Darien and a former Stamford resident, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Stamford Hospital. Born on May 2, 1927 in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Irene Hunt. She was 87
Mrs. Powell worked as Governess for Andy Rooney. She was a member of Union Memorial Church in Stamford and belonged to the 60 Plus Club. She had a passion for crafts, loved camping and traveling especially to Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City to play the slot machines and loved visiting the coast of Maine.
She is survived by her husband, Harold J. Powell of Darien, and two sons, Todd Powell of Pittsfield, MA and Glen J. Powell of Norwalk, CT.
The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Stamford on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
