Enrico M. Moccia of Route 23B, Leeds, New York died on Monday, June 23, 2014 at his home. He was 81.
He was born in Stamford, CT, a son of the late Pasquale and Mary Boccuzzi Moccia. Enrico married Carol Bloom in June 18, 1955. He was pre-deceased by his infant son, Edward Moccia and his brother, George Moccia.
After graduating from J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford, he began a career in business. While living in Connecticut, Enrico owned and operated American Pools Inc. and later a produce business supplying mushrooms to local restaurants and grocery stores.
Affectionately known as the "Mushroom Man," Enrico moved to Catskill, NY in 1983 with his family to expand his mushroom business. He soon built and operated his own restaurant, the Mushroom Factory on Route 32 in Saugerties, NY. He continued in the mushroom business for over 17 years. Later, he and his wife Carol built and operated E.C. Duz It All Laundromat in Catskill, NY. In all his business ventures, Enrico was a hands-on owner performing most of the work with his company, High Cliff Builders, which he owned and operated until his retirement. He was a member of Elks Lodge #1341 in Catskill, NY.
Enrico was the beloved husband of Carol Moccia, loving father of Pasquale Moccia of Leeds, NY; Kim Yahn (Timothy) of Stamford, CT; and Wendy Gallup (Rick) of Queensbury, NY. He is the grandfather of Jessica Quezada (Frederick) and Bruce Yahn. He is the great-grandfather of Gabriel Quezada. He is the uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Maurice Church, 356 Glenbrook Road in Stamford, CT on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Messages of condolence may be made to www.MillspaughCamerato.com.
