Jean Frame

Frame, Jean C.
Jean Carolyn Frame, 91, passed away quietly at her home in Darien early Thursday July 17, 2014, after a long illness. Jean was born in Illinois on June 13, 1923, to the late Jacob and Rena Zook, spending most of her childhood in Hamburg, N.Y. Jean was pre-deceased by her sisters Rena and Cordelia.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree from Michigan State University in 1946, Jean began a career in Stamford at American Cyanamid translating chemical formulas and technical papers from German to English. She soon met the love of her life, Andrew, and they married December 27, 1947, lasting and flourishing until Andrew's death in July of 1982, a month shy of meeting his first grandchild.
Jean obtained a Master of Science degree in Education from Danbury State College in June of 1965 and began a new career as a teacher for the Stamford School system. She later received her Sixth Year Professional Diploma from the University of Bridgeport. Most of her career in education was spent teaching math and science at Roger's Middle School and later at Dolan Middle School. When asked recently if she would have chosen another career path, she emphatically said no, that she loved all her years of teaching and would not change anything.
Jean had a love of life that led her in many directions. She was active with the Round Hill Highland Games; she served as President, Secretary and pitched in wherever she was needed. Jean also served as past president for the American Association of University Women. Sports were another love and she played tennis, golfed and bowled well into her 80's. One concession to age was to play doubles in tennis instead of singles.
Pre-deceased by her daughter Allison Frame in 2002, Jean is currently survived by her daughter Kathy, her husband Jay of Redmond, WA, their children Jayson and Jayson's fiancé Corrin of Wallingford, Katie and her husband Rob Ryan of Everett, WA, and TJ of Shoreline, WA, also her son Bob, his wife Cathy Ann of Wingdale, NY, and their son Andrew of South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 21, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Union Memorial Church, Church Street, Glenbrook, CT. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Jean would have liked donations sent to The Round Hill Highland Games, Inc., P.O. Box 2216, Darien, CT 06820 or to the American Association of University Women-http://www.aauw.org. Condolences may be offered at www.leopgallagherstamford.com
