Malizia, Jean E.
Jean Elizabeth Malizia of New York, NY passed away suddenly on January 4, 2013. Jean was born in Stamford CT on February 5, 1954 to the late Helen MacDonald Malizia and Alphonse Malizia. Jean was a 40 year resident of Manhattan. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Malizia of Beverly Hills Fl, Douglas Malizia of Rock Tavern NY, sister Susan Robinson of Stratford CT and long time companion Louis Cesario of Brooklyn NY. She was predeceased by brother James Malizia of Stamford.
She also leaves behind sisters in law Lilyann Anderson Malizia, Ellen Erickson Malizia and Margaret (Peggy) Malizia as well as nieces Christine Kohut, Cheryl Hoyt, Lori Brzoska, Lisa Jessing, Laurie Fasch and Adrienne Brigham. Also, nephews Robert Malizia 2nd, Elisha Brigham and Matthew Robinson. She was predeceased by nephew Richard Malizia. She will also be missed by many great nieces and nephews along with many close friends. Jean worked as a nurse at Rivington House in NYC working with HIV/AIDS patients and was a member of local 1199SEIU. She loved her work and was always trying to help people in need. She was studying for her R.N. to further her knowledge and her ability to provide high level health care for each of her patients. Jean was an avid Mets and NY Rangers fan; she took in as many games as she could. Jean had a passion for all kinds of music, books, and movies and embraced the "different" in life. She will be dearly missed. Jean's sister Susan Robinson will host a celebration of her life in an open house in Stratford CT on Sunday February 17th from 12pm-5pm (address provided by family/friends). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jean's name to Brooklyn Botanic Garden at where the family will dedicate a tree in her honor at a later date.
