Johnnie Mae Milner, affectionately known as "Mother Milner," entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 30, 2012. Born January 7, 1943 in Greenville, AL, to the late Dorothy Lee Gould and Lawyer Lee Hall, Mother Milner received her education through the Crenshaw County School System. She relocated with her family to Stamford, CT in the late 1960's where she was employed with Electrolux before entering into a career in domestic work until her retirement. She served on the Southfield Village Resident Council as a member and held the office of treasurer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her four daughters, Linda Dozier of Stamford, CT, Gilda Dozier of Marietta GA, Tammy Milner of Austell, GA, and Doreen (Pastor Chris) Edwards of Stratford, CT; one son, Aundra (MiMi) Dozier of Stamford, CT; siblings, Linda Cross, Laura Jean Hall Mercer, Shirley (Kevin) Womack, and Bobby Hall all of Luverne, Alabama; aunt, Clara Giles of Columbus, OH; uncle, Willie Jessie Hall of Bronx, NY; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of Spiritual Children including Lisa Duncan and Monica Foskey; two devoted friends, Annie George and Malinda Polite of Stamford, CT; The Barr Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends, brothers, and sisters in Christ. Along with her parents, Johnnie Mae was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Mae Kendrick(Charles) and Dorothy Jean Stough; three brothers, Willie James "Sonny" Hall, James Hall, and Donald Hall; three aunts, Aileen Caldwell, Essie Mae Harris, and Jessie Mae Dorsey; three uncles; Robert "Bud" Hall, Walter Hall, and Genny Hall; and a devoted friend Mable Davis.
Services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 150 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. The viewing will begin at 8:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, 66 Woodland Place Stamford, CT. Arrangements entrusted to Baker Funeral Services, 84 South Main Street, Norwalk, CT 06854.
