Joseph J. DeRosa, age 81, of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully in his home in the presence of his family on February 5, 2014. Born in Boston, MA, July 19, 1932, Joseph is survived by his loving wife Virginia of Stamford, daughter Carol Langeland and his two grandchildren, Julia and Erik Langeland, of Fairfield, CT. Joseph is also survived by three sisters: Marion and Elzira of Florida, Clarinda of MA and one brother, Edward of CT. He was predeceased by a younger brother, Anthony of MA. Many nieces and nephews will miss his loving spirit, kind heart and wise counsel. Joseph was born in Boston, MA and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He later married and completed his B.S. degree from The University of Bridgeport's School of Engineering. He was employed in quality control management for local aerospace and technology companies for over 50 years. Joseph lovingly dedicated his retirement years to his beloved family, as well as to helping elderly neighbors and friends. He volunteered at The Unitarian Universalist Society of Stamford and supported generously to many charities. Joseph enjoyed listening to classical music, studying ancient world civilizations and was a talented artist. For the past 30 years, he enriched his life immensely by being a spiritual seeker and passionate advocate of Advaita's universal truths. A celebration of life service is scheduled for Sunday, February 23, 2014, at The Unitarian Universalist Society of Stamford at 2:00 on 20 Forest St, Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations to this church may be made.
