Josephine Martorelli Lazzaro, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 30 at her home in Brookfield, Connecticut. She was born April 7, 1923 to the late Charles and Julia Martorelli. Receiving her teaching degree from Connecticut State University College and her Master's degree from Fairfield University, Jo followed her passion as a beloved elementary school teacher
, working in the Stamford School System for her entire career. A lifelong resident of Stamford, Josephine moved to Brookfield several years ago to live with her daughter. Predeceased by her husband Loreto (Jack) Lazzaro, she was a proud and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family. Josephine was also predeceased by her two sons, John (Jack) Lazzaro and Paul Lazzaro and her brother, Ralph Martorelli and his wife, Lenora. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Bruce Hunter of Brookfield; her grandson, Alexander Hunter of Danbury; and her granddaughter, Nicole Hunter of Manhattan. She is also survived by her sister, Rosina Zezima of Stamford as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 5 at 10 am at Saint Gabriel's church in Stamford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Josephine's family asks that donations to honor her life be made out to Boston University, with a memo indicating the John C.
