Maria Thomas

Thomas, Maria E.
Maria Elena Thomas, 57, a longtime resident of Norwalk, CT and more recently of Stamford, CT, lost her decade long battle with cancer on July 10, 2013 and now sleeps peacefully in death. Loving grandmother to three little monkeys, she leaves behind a lasting legacy with her children, friends and family.
She will forever be remembered as an avid Bible reader, a diligent student, a zealous Minister, a loyal provider, a skillful seamstress, a generous bargain shopper, a hospitable cook, a true friend, a supportive, patient, loving mother, and a positive and happy person who never hesitated to help others.
She is survived by her mijitos, Ofni and Amy Thomas of Monroe, CT and Yordi and Robert Fraser of Stamford, CT. She is also survived by her Mother, Juana Maria Chambers of North Miami, FL; by her sister, Miriam Isalgue Chambers of Gtmo, Cuba; and by her father Elpidio Antonio Terrero, and brother, Marco Antonio Terrero, both of Havana, Cuba; but above all, she is survived by the countless individuals whose lives she touched during her lifetime: all of her friends, her entire Congregation in Norwalk, and all of those to whom she volunteered to teach tirelessly about a new and better world without suffering. We would like to thank those who week after week tenderly cared for her at home, and her doctors and their staff for the loving care provided over the past decade, in particular the staff of the Bennet Cancer Center Dr. Paul Weinstein. We would also like to thank the staff of VITAS for their support and responsiveness during the past few months; we truly appreciate your patience as we explored all alternatives to ensure Mom's comfort and quality of life were maintained.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 17, 2013 at 6:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 126 Newtown Ave, Norwalk, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bennett Cancer Center.
