Love, Marie Keyes born May 28, 1927 passed away January 8, 2014 at the age of 86. She died peacefully in her sleep. Marie goes to join her beloved husband, Edward Arthur Love, who passed 23 years ago. She is survived by her six children, Nancy Love, Patricia Love, Anita Evans, Barbara Gustke, and Harriet Yalowitz, and Edward Blake Love. Marie was also blessed with 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Marie was born in Brooklyn, NY the second child of five children of John A. Keyes and Ethel Blake Keyes. She is survived by her brothers John, George, and William Keyes, and her sister Francis (Bibe) Stockman. Marie attended Fordham University and later worked at First Boston where she met her future husband, Edward (Ted) Love. They married at St. Patrick Cathedral in New York City on February 9, 1952. After a honeymoon in Nassau, Bahamas, Marie moved from her life-long home of Brooklyn to Staten Island with her new husband. After the birth of their sixth child, the happy couple moved to Greenwich, CT in 1964. Ted diligently worked his career in investment banking while Marie was the homemaker raising the children, and so much more. She took some very good cues from her industrious parents, John and Ethel, and opened Lemon & Lime, a women's clothing store, with her childhood friend, Kathy Blakemore. Together they ran the store for 14 years building it to be a favored shopping destination in Old Greenwich. Later, she continued to work in retail and pursued her passion of interior design and decorating by working in antique stores helping clients find perfect pieces for their homes. Marie and Ted loved spending summers on Cape Cod with their large family, and Marie never saw a beach she didn't love. She was a natural athlete and active her entire life. She was most known as an avid tennis player, especially loving the social aspect of playing. Later in life, she turned to golf gracefully channeling what her father had taught her as young girl. In 1997, Marie moved to Laguna Woods taking full advantage of the wide array of activities including tennis, bridge and golf. She was loved by all; always with an interesting or humorous story to tell. She was kind, generous and loving. Community Services will be held Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods, CA at 9:00 AM. Burial Services will be held in Staten Island, NY at a later date.
