Paul Mazik, a life-long resident of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at home in Stamford. Born on July 1, 1917 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ursula Maziuk Mazik. He was 95.
Paul graduated from Stamford High School, class of 1934. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was the former owner of Mazik's Market on Selleck Street in Stamford and was an Environmental Health Specialist for the Stamford Health Department for 19 years.
He was a member of the Experiment Station Association of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, the Historic Neighborhood Association, the Stamford Land Trust, Environmental Council of Stamford and Friends of Parks. He was also a former board member of Long Ridge Union Cemetery in Stamford.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Mazik of Stamford; a son, Paul E. Mazik, Jr. of North Branch, MI; three stepdaughters, Carrin Culotta, Robin Merrill and Deanna Larson; and 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Fred Mazik of Mililani, HI and two sisters, Sophie Kenefic of Dover, DE and Frances Cassity of Omaha, NE. He was predeceased by his first wife, Claire Mazik; a daughter, Marianne Carr; a brother, Stanley Maziuk and two sisters, Rose Kozodoy and Victoria Klinkowski.
The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Long Ridge Union Cemetery in Stamford.
