Rodney C. Ferguson, 93, of Rock Hill, SC passed away on September 3, 2013 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, Rock Hill. His death was a result of a stroke suffered on August 27.
Born and raised in the New York area, Mr. Ferguson was an honor student in Ardsley High School and later attended Skidmore College and Eastman Kodak Institute of Photography at the University of Rochester. A U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran, he utilized his photography skill in the OSS overseas. Upon his return from the war, he married his first wife Olga Muchinsky of Stamford, Connecticut and continued his college education earning a degree in English. His skills and experience led him to a career with Homelite, Division of Textron Corporation in Port Chester, NY, where he managed the technical writing department. In 1975 Nr, Ferguson transferred to Homelite in Fort Mill, SC and was married to Anita Romaine Ryan. He retired from Homelite after 28 years of service. Mr. Ferguson loved his life in Rock Hill and was always seen with his camera in hand. His favorite subjects were family, birds, and flowers. In addition, Mr. Ferguson was a professional piano player and just prior to his stroke, "The Piano Man" entertained the residents and staff at the Westminster Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his beloved wife Anita, his son Rodney Ferguson, Jr. of Newington, CT and Anita's children: Michael Ryan of Londonderry, NH, Shelley Reynolds of Monroe, CT, Barbara Trow, of Stamford, CT, and Susan Pickett of Aiken, SC; and five grandchildren: Michael Ryan, Jr., Kathryn Ryan Chang, Jennifer Ryan, Caitlin Trow, and Ryan Trow.
