Rosemary Ryan Magner, age 88 of Boca Raton, FL, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 5. She was the wife of the late John E. "Jack" Magner. Born in Stamford on January 30, 1926, Rosemary was the daughter of the late William and Rose " Tooher " Ryan. She was raised in Stamford and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She was also a graduate of the College of New Rochelle and received her Master's Degree in Guidance from the University of Bridgeport in 1963. Rosemary worked for the Stamford Public School System from 1948 to 1968 as a guidance counselor and from 1960 to 1964 she also served on the Stamford City Council. She was a longtime member of St. Matthew Parish and St. Lucy Church in Highland Beach, FL. She was also a member of the Shorehaven Golf Club and the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club in Boca Raton.
Survivors include two step-sons, Dr. John R. Magner and his wife Cheryl of San Diego, CA and Kevin P. Magner and his wife Paula of Wilton, CT, a sister, Alice R. Devine of Norwalk, 9 step-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Jack, Rosemary was predeceased by her brothers Vincent, William and Dr. John Ryan, her sister Rita Iacovo, and her step-son, Brian C. Magner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12, 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Rosemary's family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Matthew Church.
