Stanley F. Glica, 93, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on the evening of Friday, March 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Stamford, Stanley was born on November 26, 1919 to the late John and Catherine (Pawlik) Glica. Stanley was a proud World War II
Veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army
. He served three years in the 79th Infantry Division and a year and a half with the ETO. After his honorable discharge from the service Stanley went to work as a machinist for Baldwin Gegenheimer Corporation. He was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish for many years, where he played the fife and marched with the Holy Name of Jesus Fife, Drum and Bugle Corps. He was also an active participant at the VFW
Post 9617 in Springdale, and loved to bowl, dance the polka and follow UCONN women's basketball. Stanley is survived by his five daughters and their spouses, Kathy and Leonard Washburn, Fran and David Coley, Patricia Glica, Jeanne and Warren Northrop, Amy and Blayne Brocklehurst, his eleven grandchildren, Kevin Washburn, and wife Rochelle, Jennifer Cha, and husband James, Rebecca Washburn, Megan Washburn, Anna Coley, DJ Coley, Del Brocklehurst, MaryAnne Northrop, Christine Carlucci, and husband Gary, Robert Northrop and Paul Northrop, and his ten great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Sophie Yurchak, and many neices and nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jennie Glica, and his brothers Matt and Adam, sister, Mary Plaskowitz, and companion, Helen Check. Stanley's family will receive the condolences of friends and relatives on Thursday, April 4th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue in Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 5th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 305 Washington Blvd., Stamford, CT. The committal service and interment will immediately follow mass at St. John R.C. Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation in memory of Stanley F.
