Susan D. Flynn, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Susan was born in Bridgeport on August 9, 1951. She grew up in Trumbull, CT and attended Saint Joseph's High School. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Southern Connecticut State College in 1973. Susan had a successful business career in commercial banking with Connecticut Bank & Trust and Connecticut Community Bank. She was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer, active in a number of community service organizations. One of her passions was the Shippan Point Garden Club, where she served in various leadership roles. She loved gardening and earned a Master Gardener certification from the University of Connecticut program through the Bartlett Arboretum. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Stamford. Susan was widely admired as a kind, compassionate, and reliable friend who always unselfishly put the concerns of others above her own. Her vibrant and charming personality endeared her to many people and her graciousness, friendship, and loving ways will be sadly missed. She was an extraordinary mother, a gifted parent and a loving and devoted wife. She is survived by her husband, Frederick C. Flynn, Jr.; her children, Katherine E. Flynn and Matthew M. Flynn; her siblings Adrienne Caruso of Bridgewater, CT; Michael DelVecchio 3rd of Killingworth, CT; and Peter DelVecchio, of Easton, CT. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews who all loved her very much. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael DelVecchio and Josephine DelVecchio. Family will receive relatives and friends from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am, on Monday, May 13th at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1200 Shippan Avenue in Stamford. Interment will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Susan's memory to the Shippan Point Garden Club, 97 Ocean Drive West, Stamford, CT 06902 or the Palliative Care Department of Greenwich Hospital c/o Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich Hospital Foundation Office, 35 River Road, Cos Cob, CT 06087.
