Major Mueller Obituary

Mueller, Major Robert H.
Major Robert H. Mueller, US Air Force Retired, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2014 at Stamford Hospital. He was born to the late Albert and Minnie Hue Mueller in Wisconsin on July 20, 1920.
Major Mueller was a graduate of The University of MN, where he was the half back on the varsity football team and a member of the SAE fraternity. Major Mueller's wealth of experience as a bomber pilot based in England during WWII with thirty one missions over Germany prepared him for twenty years in management at Sears Roebuck & Co. during its heyday in Chicago, IL. He later ran three different manufacturing companies as their president and CEO, while continuing to serve our country as a National Guard member for twenty three years. A decorated pilot during WWII and Korea, Major Mueller was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with five clusters and five Battle Stars for major air engagements including the D-Day invasion. As an expert in an elite group of individuals who were dedicated to God and country, his later years were dedicated to motivational speaking and writing his book titled, 'A Life Shaped by Combat' reflecting on how lessons he learned in the military served him well throughout his illustrious career.
Robert is survived by his wife, Virginia "Randy" Randolph Mueller, his daughter Leslie Mueller and her husband Steve Scroggins of Greenwich, CT, his daughter Debra and her husband Dan Freund of Rice, MN, his eldest daughter, Denise and her husband Scott Lutzke of Edina, MN, their children, Jonathan, Kristin, Michael and Melissa and his great grandchild Hartley.
Major Mueller's remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to The Wounded Warriors Project, P.O Box 75817, Topeka, KS 66675 www.woundedwarriorproject.prg/donate

Dear Randy, Leslie and Steve, You all have been pillars of strength for Bob these many years. You comported yourselves with grace and humor and are a model for all of us. As you were blessed to have Bob in your lives, he too was blessed to have you three. With love, Valerie and Mike

I had the privilege of meeting Major Muellar at the Smith house last year. He was across the hall from my Dad. Though he couldn't speak at the time, I always saluted him, and he saluted back. A very nice gentleman indeed. May he rest in peace.

Thank you dearly for your service to our country during two wars. It is because of your bravery & that of your comrades that many know freedom. Rest easy now with your comrades in arms.
A grateful American
