At the height of his career, Bill lived and worked in Johannesburg, South Africa for five years, where he served as head of Union Carbide, Southern Africa. Active with Junior Achievement (JA) while in South Africa, he continued his involvement with JA upon his return to the United States and until his eventual retirement in 1985.

He was an active member of his church, Emmanuel Episcopal, serving on the vestry and acting as the church treasurer. Always interested in investment strategies, he was instrumental in starting the church's investment club. Bill was also an avid stamp and coin collector.

Our condolences to all the Magruderv family on the loss of your father.

I recall delivering the Stamford Advocate to your house for a few years, a route I shared with my 5 brothers for almost 2 decades.

Growing up in Springdale and Belltown in the 60's was a special time and parents like yours with big families and your Dad helped make it so good.

May he rest in peace knowing he did a great job raising his family and left the world a better place.
