Alice Hoppel Obituary

ALICE G. HOPPEL of Norwalk passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 in her home, following a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Alice was 86. She was the wife of the late Frank Mark Hoppel, Jr. Born in Norwalk on July 04, 1923, Alice was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Helen (Taylor) Guerin and attended local schools. She had lived in Norwalk her entire life. Alice worked as a secretary for the former E.H. Hotchkiss Co. of Norwalk and the South Norwalk Trust Co. for many years. She was a member of the Norwalk United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, King M. Hoppel and his wife, Barbara of Oregon and Bruce F. Hoppel and his wife, Erin of Norwalk; one daughter, Lynn Hoppel of West Hartford; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Alice enjoyed crossword puzzles and trips to the beach, especially to Cape Cod. She loved to surround herself amongst her family and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 20, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 3:00PM 5:00PM. Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 in the parlor, at 10:00AM with the Rev. Janet G. Hodge of the Norwalk United Methodist Church officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Riverside Cemetery, following the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Mid Fairfield Hospice and Whittingham Cancer Center for the extraordinary care they provided Alice and ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be made to either location.
