Angelina C. Ciardi passed, Saturday, December 21, 2013 surrounded by her loving family, she was 89 years young. Born January 26, 1924 in Stamford, CT to the late Thomas and Chiara (Salvatore) Nardozza. She was a proud graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1942. During the war years she was a homefront worker at the Schick Factory and later worked at the upscale Hirsch's Fur Shop on Atlantic Street. She married her war hero, Italo A. Ciardi in 1943. At the age of 25 along with her husband Italo, they purchased their home where she would raise their family and would live for the next 64 years.
Angelina was a wonderful poet whose rhyming poems brought smiles to all. She was an avid antique collector of discerning taste and a lover of all beauty. She was a full time mom and grandmother who was always available for her family.
She is survived by, her son Michael A. Ciardi and his wife Charlotte of Easton, MD. Her daughters, Elyse Tamborino and her husband Frank, and Donna Ferris-Stofko and her husband Richard, both of Stamford, CT. Her grandchildren, Michael Ciardi and his wife Kate, and Stephen Ciardi, of Fairfield, CT. Jennifer (Tamborino) Riveles and her husband Michael, Erin Ferris (Michael Springer) of Stamford, CT, Andrea (Ferris) Filgueira and her husband Junio, of Ridgefield, CT, Lauren (Tamborino) Bell and her husband Justin of Claverack, NY, Gina Ciardi, of Easton, MD, her brother Thomas Nardozza of Stamford, CT, as well as 9 great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Angelina is predeceased by her husband, Italo A. Ciardi and her sisters, Carmella Lionetti, Anna Coviello, and Rose Berlingo.
Angelina was a loving mother, grandmother, and a great friend to all who knew her. She took great joy in cooking and spending time with her family, and her door was always open to all. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. James S. Krinsley and the entire Pulmonary Associates practice for 25 years of care and compassion.
Family and friends may call at The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.
