Carmen Poma, age 75, of Stamford, CT passed away on March 6, 2014 with family by her side.
Carmen was born in Lima, Peru to Natalia Poma and the late Reynaldo Poma on July 16, 1938. She received her BA in Economic Science from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. She came to Stamford in 1964 where she went on to work for such companies as Clairol, GTE, and most recently M-Real USA Corp. where she worked as the International Sales Coordinator before her retirement. In addition to this, Carmen was a Spanish language instructor for Berlitz for over 40 years.
Sophisticated and exuberant, Carmen was the life of the party who enjoyed dancing, traveling, and being amongst her loved ones. Carmen's passion was her family and she was known as always supporting the advancement of her relatives while promoting education, an appreciation for the arts, and family unity.
Carmen is survived by her mother, Natalia Poma of Stamford; brothers Luis Reynaldo Poma and Julio Cesar Poma both of Stamford; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Reynaldo Poma; sister Rosa Poma Leon, and brother Rafael Enrique Poma.
Family will receive family and friends on Sunday, March 9th, from 2 pm - 6 pm at Bosak Funeral Home on 453 Shippan Ave in Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 10th at 11am at Saint Mary's Parish, 566 Elm Street, in Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Darien, CT.
