Kidney, David F.
David Francis Kidney died on February 7th. He was 84 years old and had been a resident of Westport since 1960. David, the son of David and Sara Kidney, was born and raised in Hartford. After graduating from high school, he volunteered and served in the Army of the Occupation in Japan. He came home, graduated from UConn, and went to work for Traveler's Insurance, where he worked for 35 years. David is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Barbara G. Kidney, his daughter Susan, son-in-law John, son David, daughter-in-law Kimberly, his son Steven, sister Claire, and brother-in-law Hugh. His grandchildren, Megan, Caitlin, Jenna, Sara, John, Will, Michaela, Dana and Emma loved "Pop". He adored each and every one of them. David was very community minded. He volunteered countless hours at RSVP and the Red Cross. He was an active member of the Y's Men, Saugatuck Congregational Church, Power Squadron, and Minuteman Yacht Club. David loved his life and lived it fully. He was a sailor, golfer, and paddle tennis player. He enjoyed travel with his wife and their numerous friends. He was quick with a joke, generous to a fault, and a real people person. He loved nothing more than spending time with his large and boisterous family. A memorial service in celebration of David's wonderful life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday February 16th at the Green's Farm Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Saugatuck Church Rebuilding Fund, Post Office Box 5186, Westport, CT 06881-5186.
