Gertude S. Taber, 90, affectionately known as Trudy, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Stamford Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Newburyport, MA on May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Lilian (Wood) Sargent. Trudy grew up in Monroe, Michigan and went on to earn her undergraduate degree at Eastern Michigan University. She attended Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated with a degree in nursing. She came to Stamford in 1955 where she and her husband, Robert, settled and raised their family. Trudy worked as an office manager for Dr. Stanley Machenberg, D.D.S. for 35 years, and was a faithful member of the Springdale United Methodist Church. Mrs. Taber is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard & Donna Taber, her grandchildren; Melissa Samaha, James & Jamie Taber, Stephanie & Todd Jones, and eight great grandchildren; Jacob, Jake, Logan, Amanda, Maren, Sydney, Avery and Tatum. In addition to her parents, Trudy was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Robert L. Taber. The Taber family will receive the condolences of friends and family on Friday, December 20th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church of Springdale, 1116 Hope Street, Stamford, CT 06907. The interment will immediately follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Stamford.
