Evanko- Grace Marie Evanko, " Amazing Grace " age 10, of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully at home with her parents by her side on Saturday, March 2, 2013. She battled an inoperable DIPG brain tumor for two and a half years. She possessed strength, determination and an ability to overcome physical challenges, all with a smile on her face. She has inspired so many in such a short time. Grace was a forth grade student at the Osborne Hill School and loved playing with her friends, laughing, dancing, being creative, playing on the computer and anything chocolate ! Of course everyone knows she was obsessed with American Girl dolls. She could play school or tea party for hours and took such good care of them all. Grace adored her older brother Riley and truly looked up to him. Her stuffed animal " Puppy " gave her great comfort at many a doctor appointment and is and will always be by her side. As a family we were blessed to have her in our lives and have created many memories that will last a lifetime. Grace is survived by her devoted parents Fred and Denise Sileo Evanko, her brother, Riley, her paternal grandparents Richard and Marie Evanko of Stamford and maternal grandmother Catherine Sileo of Norwalk, uncles and aunts Michael and Jennifer Evanko, Richard and Maria Evanko and Chris and Lucy Gallo. Grace Marie leaves behind her cousins Charlotte and Nathan Evanko, Anthony and Sofia Evanko and Ethan and Dylan Gallo. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Michael Sileo. Grace's Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday at 10am DIRECTLY at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Dr., Fairfield with burial to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center.
