Hugh Troshynski, 74, of Stamford, CT, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Stamford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Atkinson, Nebraska on May 22, 1938. He was son of the late, Dan and Margaret Troshynski. Left to cherish his memory, are his wife of 52 years, Rita; their children, Ted and daughter-in-law Diane Troshynski of Lincoln, NE; Marty and son-in-law, Dennis Paglialunga of Fairfield, CT; and Jean Bianco of Milford, CT; eight grandchildren, Meagan Thompson, Sam and Madison Troshynski, Megan, Dan, and Anna Paglialunga, and Karissa and Jaime Bianco; a sister, Marjorie Powell of Alliance, NE; and nieces and nephews, Mary Jo Doolittle of Emmett, NE, Nancy Clayborne of Texas, Julie Powell of Alliance, NE and Larry Powell of Kansas. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Eugene. Hugh was a graduate of Wayne State Teachers College and earned his Masters and Doctorate of Education degrees at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He taught throughout Nebraska for 35 years and developed a gifted students program and with the University Law School , a Law related Studies Program that was used by teachers throughout the state. An avid advocate of social issues, Hugh researched and published his doctoral thesis on the acceptance and teaching of controversial social issues throughout the state. He also taught for several years at Ardsley High School in Ardsley, NY, following his move here in 1980. Most recently, Hugh found the perfect retirement job at Sterling Farms Golf Course where he enjoyed golf and camaraderie with his colleagues. Family will receive relatives and friends from 4pm to 8pm TODAY, Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am, on Friday, May 17th at the Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist, 279 Atlantic Street, in Stamford. Interment will be private. His family has entrusted the funeral arrangements to Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT.
