Karen Kalman, 71, of Danbury, CT passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in Danbury. She was born on August 25, 1941 in Stamford, CT, daughter of the late Raymond and Anna May (Kramer) Warnke. She was the wife of the late Bruce Kalman. Karen moved to Danbury from Haverhill, Massachusetts 3 years ago to live with her daughter. Prior to moving to Danbury, Karen lived in northern Massachusetts and worked in Andover for the IRS, retiring in 2005 after 18 years of doing what she called "the best job she ever had besides raising her children". She is survived by her children Elizabeth Kalman and her husband David Arnold of Danbury, Victoria Kalman and her husband Kerry Maxwell of Belmont, Massachusetts, Cynthia Kalman of Belmont, Massachusetts, and Bruce Kalman of Stamford, CT, as well as three grandchildren and three step-granddaughters. She is predeceased by and reunited with her son Michael Kalman who passed away 25 years ago at the young age of 27 from skin cancer. Karen is also survived by her sisters Cynthia Wilkins of New Haven, CT and Hope Brissette of Bellows Falls, VT and a brother, Paul Warnke of Brookfield, CT. She is predeceased by her sisters Judith Major and Linda Northrop and a brother John Warnke. There are no calling hours or services and burial will be private. For those wishing to honor her memory, she would be pleased by any charitable contributions to the food bank or animal shelter of your choice.
