Halama, Michael J.
Michael J. Halama, 91, of Stamford passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 14, 1921 in Thomaston, CT to the late Michael J. and Elizabeth Lalinski Halama, Sr.
Michael was the owner of Halama Plumbing and Irrigation Company, working until 89 years of age. His life revolved around his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Michael served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II with the elite "Carpetbagger" unit, which was under the direction of the OSS.
Michael is survived by his loving daughters Nancy J. Cingari and her husband Chip and Carol A. Fedele and her husband Daniel J., Sr. all of Stamford; two sisters Emily Cozens of MA, Ann DiCerbo and her husband Joseph of Branford, CT and a brother Frank Halama of Stamford; his grandchildren Dominick and Lisa Cingari, Daniel J. Jr. and Deirdre Fedele, Michelle Fedele and Jennifer Cingari, as well as his great grandchildren; Victoria Fedele, Salvatore and Sofia Cingari and Joseph Fedele.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean E. Wisnieski Halama.
A funeral procession will be leaving The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday March 12, 2013 at 9:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Leo's Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Monday March 11, 2013 from 4:00- 8:00 PM.
