Nicodemo "Nick" Vinci, 92, of Palmetto, FL, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2013. Nick was born on October 21, 1921 in Dasa'Catanzaro, Italy to the late Vincenzo and Mariantonia Posca Vinci.
After Nick immigrated to Stamford he worked in many fine local department stores, including Natelson's, before opening Nick Vinci Tailors & Dry Cleaners, which he owned and operated for 35 years. After closing his business, Nick worked in Darien with his son at Darien Tailors and Cleaners until his retirement. Nick was a member of the Holy Name Society and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister during Italian Mass at Sacred Heart Church.
Nick is survived by daughter Antoinette "Toni" (Bill) Lysobey of Palmetto,FL; son Vincent (Cindi) Vinci, of Trinity, FL; grandchildren Laura (Rick) Tveter of Monroe, CT; Vincent (Tracey) Lysobey of Palmetto, FL; Brian (Mika) Vinci of New Haven, CT and Lisa Vinci of Boston, MA His great-grandchildren, Megan and Christopher Tveter, Vincent Jr. and Hailey Marie Lysobey, also survive.
Besides his parents, Nick is predeceased by his loving wife Genoveffa Montagnese Vinci and his grandson Steven Vinci.
A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT on Monday December 30, 2013 at 10:00AM and proceed to Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler, Stamford, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at St. Johns RC Cemetery Mausoleum, Darien. Family and friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:00AM.
