Koziol, Rev. Stanley N.
Rev. Stanley N. Koziol, 79, passed away at Stamford Hospital on Thursday, February 28th, 2013. He was born in Stamford on August 3rd, 1933 to the late Izydor and Albina Koziol. After attending Holy Name of Jesus School and Stamford High School, Stanley went on to St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, Ct. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at St. Bernard College in Rochester, NY. He was ordained in 1958 by the late Lawrence Cardinal Shehan. After his ordination he began his vocation as a diocesan priest at St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, CT. In his 54 years as a priest Father Koziol 's assignments had him serving at parishes throughout the Bridgeport Diocese. The parishes included St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown, St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, St. Joseph Church in Norwalk, St. Leo Church in Stamford, St. Philips Church in Norwalk, Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford and the last parish before retirement in 2004, St. Mark's Church in Stratford. During his vocation as a priest he was chaplain to the Anchor Club of America for several years and he was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Stanley is survived by his sisters Helen Tabola of Needham, MA, Ann Koziol and Genevieve Cal of Stamford, and Josephine Harvey of Redmond, WA, and his brothers, Alfons and Joseph Koziol of Stamford and Anthony Koziol of Torrington, CT. He is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, Stanley is predeceased by his sister Stephanie Kellis.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 5th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Avenue in Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6th at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 305 Washington Blvd., Stamford, CT. Interment will immediately follow at the Priest Circle in St. John R.C. Cemetery, in Darien, CT.
