Knapp , Warren. F
Warren F. Knapp, 93, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died April 3, 2013. Born on October 18, 1919 he was the eldest son of Paris R. Knapp, and Louise Pieper of Stamford.
Warren was a graduate of Stamford High School Class of 1938, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the 563D Signal Aircraft Warning Battalion in World War II, where he took part in five major European Campaigns.
After the war, he worked with his father and later his brother Donald where they co-owned Washington Garage Auto Body Shop & Used Car Dealership until 1981.
Warren was a past member of Halloween Yacht Club where he enjoyed his boat, however his love was for skiing and spent numerous winter weekends with friends at Sugar Bush Valley in Vermont.
During retirement he enjoyed his animals, working in his yard, and listening to big bang music.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother Donald Knapp, and is survived by a nephew Donald Knapp Jr., cousins Ralph Knapp of Stamford, Albert Pieper of Ann Arbor , Michigan and his longtime friend of 37 years Beverleigh Shaylor of Stamford.
At this time we would like to thank his doctors and their staff for the care they showed him in his last years, in particular Dr. Jack Di Teodoro. , Dr. Rhett Drugge and Dr. Paul Weinstein.
A private graveside service will be held at a future date.
