Jay B. Andrews - whose generous spirit, gregarious personality, and vivacious laugh made him the life of many parties as well as a very cherished friend - passed away on November 30, 2012. A Louisville native, Jay was born May 24, 1944. He was the first born child of J.B. and Dorothy Rice Andrews. Jay was a 1962 graduate of Atherton High School in Louisville. He attended East Carolina University earning a complete football scholarship. As part of the ECU Pirates Football Team Jay participated in many victorius Bowl Games. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity; graduating from the School of Business in 1966. It was at East Carolina where Jay met his future bride Patricia Ann Hunley. Family, friends, and golf, were Jay's passions. A devoted father, grandfather, and uncle. Jay loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family and close friends whether on the beach or around his dinner table. He was gifted storyteller, enjoyed many colorful jokes, dancing, Motown, Jazz and the Blues. Cultivating more than 35 years in the children's clothing manufacturing industry. His career began in Kentucky and quickly moved him to New York, NY. Jay became President and member of the Board of Directors of both Health-Tex, Inc. and Kleinerts, Inc. He served as President of the Children's Wear Manufacturing Association and KIDS. A board Member of both Audubon and Burning Tree Country Clubs. Jay was an avid and competitive golfer who loved time on the golf course. He and his family lived in Stamford, CT for more than 28 years enjoying many special friendships. They are members of St. Matthews Episcopal Chu rch, Bedford, NY. Upon retirement, Jay and Pat returned Louisville, KY. Where they have enjoyed lots of old and many new friends, as well as their close knit family. Jay is survived by Pat, his loving wife of nearly 46 years; daughters Amy Andrews of Old Greenwich, CT, and Polly Andrews Hill (Greg) of Louisville; grandchildren Chase Andrews Hill, Riley Elizabeth Hill, and Brooke Andrews-Peden; sister Marsha Andrews Lloyd (Gary) of Louisvilles; brothers David Andrews of Chicago, Steve Andrews (Anne) of Indianapolis; and his many beloved nieces and nephews. A Blessing and Celebration of Jay's life will be planned for the Spring time at St. Mattews of Bedford, NY. Friends may pay their respects on Friday December 7, 4-7 pm at Arch L.
