Scordo, Michael J.
Michael J. Scordo, 83, of Stamford passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday February 16, 2014. Michael was born in Greenwich on March 21, 1930 to the late John and Sara Piro Scordo.
Michael was a veteran with the United States Navy during the Korean War serving aboard the USS Saipan. Michael was employed as a machinist with the Conde Nast and later at the Mt. Vernon Die Company and then Bolt Technology after which he worked at the Sclafani Corporation prior to his retirement in 1999. Michael was an avid golfer and a member at E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course.
Michael is survived by his loving wife Lavinia Mace Scordo, his son Michael J. Scordo and his wife Kathy of Trumbull, his daughter Angela M. Sclafani and her husband Bruce of New Canaan, his brother Joseph Scordo and his wife Joyce,of Old Greenwich, his sisters, Mary Jane Rashan and her husband Ed, of Fairfield and Phyllis Ripley, of California. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Anthony Sclafani and his wife Sara, Luciano, Nicholas and Gabrielle Sclafani, Michelle Nolan and her husband Chris, and Elizabeth Scordo and her fiancé Jeff Kunze.
Besides his parents, Michael is predeceased by his sister Susan Charney.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Wednesday February 19, 2014 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM, with a prayer service taking place at the funeral home at 12:30PM. Interment will be private.
