Dr. Domenick "Dom" Balducci,PhD,age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday Feb. 23, 2014 at Stamford Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1923 in NY, NY to the late Michael and Serafina Balducci. He served in WW II in the Pacific as a medic for the US Army.
Dom was a School Psychologist for the Bureau of Child Guidance in New York City. After his retirement he worked part time with mentally handicapped adults in New York. After living all his life in New York City, he moved up to Stamford, CT in 2010 to be near his daughter, Donna.
He resided at Atria of Stamford where he enjoyed the things he loved most, crossword puzzles, reading, Trivia, and movies. He his known for his incredible smile, quirky sense of humor, quick wit, and amazing intelligence. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved to take his children to games when he lived in The Bronx. His wife and he greatly enjoyed the Metropolitan Opera in N.Y.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted daughter, Donna Hughes and her partner, Alan Sosnowitz of Stamford, CT, his granddaughters Amanda Hughes of Stamford, CT, Nicole Maneri, Christina Balducci, two great-granddaughters, Hailie and Payton Maneri of Poughkeepsie, NY. He is also survived by two sisters Antoinette Luse and Mary Borries of St. Petersburg Beach, Fl., many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Dom was predeceased by his first wife Lucille Provenzano Balducci, his second wife, Dr. Laura Hines, his son Glen Balducci, his son-in-law Paul Hughes, and his sister Rose Bianchi.
There will be no calling hours and Interment will be at Long Island Cemetery on April 28, 2014. Please make a charitable donation of your choice, as he was a great man of giving to others who are less fortunate.
