Strazza, Gail
Gail Vadeboncoeur Strazza, 74, wife, mother and grandmother, of Greenwich, passed on March 21, 2014, at Greenwich Hospital. Born in Port Chester on January 14, 1940 to Albert Phillip and Francis Vadeboncoeur; Gail moved to Greenwich in 1946 where she lived for the rest of her life. She enjoyed playing sports and dancing in her youth and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1957. She worked at the Greenwich Hospital for almost 35 years as a medical secretary eventually becoming the administrator for the "Tender Beginnings" program for expectant mothers. Gail was a fixture at the hospital, where she brought her hard work ethic, love and friendship with her everyday to share with anyone willing to accept it. Gail loved her family and friends with all of her heart. She was a great counselor with insight beyond her years. Gail had the willingness to listen and the wisdom to give advice when needed, encouragement when warranted and tough love when required. Gail was a dedicated wife, an exceptional mother and a great friend to everyone she met. She has left a lasting impression on so many and she will be missed dearly. Gail is survived by her husband, Ralph Strazza, Sr. to whom she was married for 52 years; their four sons, Mark, Ralph (April), Albert (Laurie) and Thomas (Carolyn); their seven grandchildren: Sophia, Jacob, Sam, Lilliana, Simon, Cooper and Trey; her sister Barbara McNally of Bronxville, NY; brother Phillip Vadeboncoeur of Indian Land, SC and many wonderful nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Wake services will be held on Tuesday, March 25 from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM at the Castiglione's Funeral Home in Greenwich. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that a donation in Gail's memory be made to the "Greenwich Hospital Women and Children's Fund", 5 Perryridge Road in Greenwich.
