Gibson, Lucy D.
Lucy D. Gibson (nee Becce), 87, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, April 2, 2014 at home in Stamford, CT.
Born in Tolve, Italy, she came to America in 1934 and lived in Pennsylvania, California, and New Jersey prior to moving to Stamford 41 years ago. She was a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and Pitney Bowes in Stamford before retiring.
Lucy enjoyed tending to her flowers in her yard and took great pride in her rock garden, in addition to many varieties of indoor plants from orchids to lemon trees. She loved visits from her grandchildren and was an avid Yankees fan, always rooting for the closing pitchers who saved the game.
Lucy is survived by Rod, her husband of 51 years; her son Ted and his two children Brittany and Kyle; Ted's wife Marlene and her two children Brianna and Dylan; her brother-in-law, Pat; and three nieces and a nephew. Lucy was predeceased by her son John in 1983, her sister Antoinette in 2010, and her twin sister Mary in 2012.
Visitation will be from 1-4 PM Sunday at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Monday at Holy Spirit Church, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford.
Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rock Rimmon Road, Stamford.
