MOONIE, Clyde Wickliffe, of Greenwich CT, and formerly of Palm Beach FL and Scarsdale NY, passed away on August 14, 2014 at the age of 96 from complications resulting from an aortal aneurism. He was surrounded by his loving family at the end. Born in San Francisco in 1918, he graduated from the University of Chicago with an MBA in 1941. He joined the US Army the following year and became a finance officer, serving in northern Africa before being attached to the US Air Force in southern Italy. He retired after World War II with the rank of Captain. Mr. Moonie was a CPA licensed in California (where he received the Forbes gold medal from the California CPA Society for the highest score on the CPA exam) and in New York. From 1945 -1958 he was an audit manager at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago, San Francisco and Mexico City. From 1958-1965 he was administrative manager and controller at mining companies in Peru and Chile before being transferred to the parent company, Minerals & Chemicals Philipp Corp., in New York City as Controller. After several mergers, he retired from Phibro-Solomon Inc. (subsequently acquired by CitiGroup) in 1982 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. From 1983-1986 he was the Executive Director of the Advisory Council to the Financial Accounting Standards Board. After leaving FASB and until recently, Mr. Moonie was a financial consultant to various companies and volunteered with the Greenwich Retired Men's Assoc. and the Hill House Retired Residents in Old Greenwich. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Liana, of Greenwich, his son Gregory and daughter Barbara, both of North Stamford CT, and many nieces and nephews around the country.
