Bob Miliaresis, beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on Friday, August 22nd. He was just shy of his 90th birthday. Mr. Miliaresis was born in Greece on October 8, 1924. He survived the Nazi occupation of Greece and become an officer in the Greek Army. He studied finance and started a successful accounting business in Athens before immigrating to the United States. He earned his MBA at Seton Hall while working full-time and teaching himself English at night. He met and fell in love with Alice Loukaides and they married shortly thereafter. They had two children, Don Miliaresis and Christa (Miliaresis) Gross and settled in Stamford, Connecticut. Mr. Miliaresis was an executive of Pappas Enterprises, holding the title of Vice President and Controller of the oil shipping and real estate company. He lost his adored wife Alice in 1988, becoming both father and mother to his children. He is survived by his son Don and daughter-in-law Tabatha (Pritchard) Miliaresis, whom he called kouklitsa, as well as his daughter Christa and wonderful son-in-law Scott Gross. He leaves behind his grieving sisters Mrs. Catherine Poulos, Mrs. Angelica Papasavas and Mrs. Nina Pappas and is pre-deceased by his brother Makis Miliaressis. He had 8 grandchildren: Robert, Andrew, Aristides, James and Maranda Miliaresis and Alice, Emma and AJ Gross. He is celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary in heaven with his wife. An Orthodox service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 12 PM at the The Greek Orthodox Shrine Church of St. Nicholas 196-10 Northern Blvd, Flushing, NY. Burial will be held at Flushing Cemetery. Bob's family will receive friends on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 4pm to 8 pm at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford CT.
