Guidotti, Donald "Bruce"
Donald "Bruce" Guidotti of Stamford, passed away at home at the age of 69, on New Year's Day, 2013 surrounded by his family. Bruce was born in 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to Bruno Guidotti and Dorothy Amari Guidotti. He graduated with honors from Harvard University in 1965, and holds an MBA from The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. As a career Madison Avenue advertising executive, Bruce was responsible for some of the more memorable campaigns on such blue-chip brands as Fritos, M&M Mars, Gatorade and Quaker Oats. His "Right Thing to Do" campaign on Quaker Oats won the Grand Gold Effie. Bruce lived with his wife of 44 years - Martha Hawkins Guidotti in Stamford and Lakeville, where they enjoyed a weekend home. Bruce was not only a successful businessman but also a lifelong outdoorsman. He and Martha spent their free time together gardening, bird watching and bee keeping. Bruce was also an avid hunter and fisherman and a skilled carpenter. He taught, and passed on these passions to his two sons and five grandsons. Bruce built a loyal following of friends, with whom he stayed connected over the years. He will be missed by the many people who came to rely on him as a source of inspiration, boundless knowledge, quiet competence and effectiveness and enthusiasm for life. In addition to his wife Martha, Bruce is survived by his his eldest son Greg, daughter in law Paige, and their children Thomas, Peter & William of Chicago, Ill; and his son Ted, daughter in law Sarah, and their children Ellis and Theo of Brooklyn, NY. A memorial service will be planned this spring in Lakeville Connecticut. As Bruce was someone who truly loved the outdoors, we ask that memorial donations be made to The Nature Conservancy (P.O Box 6014, Albert Lea, MN 56007), referencing account #80209288.
