Robertucci, Catherine
Catherine M. Robertucci, 87 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at home after kissing her husband good morning one last time, on Friday March 8, 2013. Catherine was born on November 9, 1925 to the late John and Minnie Maruca Montagnesi. She was raised and resided in Stamford until moving to Trumbull in 1988. Catherine is survived by her beloved husband Fred, with whom she was to celebrate 67 years of marriage this upcoming September. She leaves behind a daughter Patricia Ganino and son-in-law Michael of Bridgeport and a son, Fred and daughter-in-law Betty of Orlando, FL. In addition, Catherine is survived by her grandchildren Michael Ganino and his wife Gloria, Catherine Sommer and her husband Ron, Christina Huydic and her husband Craig and Stacy Robertucci. Her most precious moments were spent with her nine great-grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Deanna Ganino, Christopher and Stefanie Sommer, Craig Jr. and Christian Huydic and Isabella and Madison Alexander. Catherine is also survived by a brother, Dante V. Montagnesi and sister-in-law Nancy of Greenwich and sister Grace Tambourine of Dallas, TX, as well as several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brother Tony Montagnesi.
Catherine graduated from Stamford High School in 1943 and devoted her entire life to her family and their happiness. Whether remembered as Catherine, Kay, "Mom", "Gram" or "Nani", her memory will live forever through her family and the beliefs and traditions she valued. From as early as we could remember, her cooking made every holiday a special celebration and we have wonderful memories of Christmas Eve dinners and her anisette cookies that will last a lifetime. Although Gram said her recipes were "a little of this" and "a little of that", she took the time to write each one down so her family could forever enjoy them.
The family would like to offer special and sincere thanks to all the professionals at Compassionate Care Companions, especially Deneika and Brenda, who not only provided support and comfort during her long illness, but also became part of the family.
Calling hours will be Wednesday March 13th from 4-8pm at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford.
