Breden, Edward
Edward H. Breden, age 84 of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Ed, a retired marine surveyor who spent his life on Long Island Sound, was born in Mount Vernon, NY, September 30, 1928, to Adeline and Edward C. Breden. A true "Old Salt", Ed built his first boat in his teenage years. After his 3 year tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Korea, Ed went on to boat building until he was hired by John Scott Paine to help build up the new Yacht Haven East Marina in Stamford. Later, he became service manager for both Yacht Haven East and West yards when Brewers took over. In 1980, he established his own business, Power & Sail Ltd., as a marine surveyor. As an avid fisherman and gardener, you could always find Ed either on his boat reeling in the day's catch or in his garden enjoying his plants and vegetables. His beautiful blue eyes and quirky sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ed is survived by his adoring wife Theda (nee Cloutier) of 62 years and their 12 children; Daughters: Maureen St. Pierre, Cate Howell, Karen Lojko, Colette Breden, Jacqueline Cobb, and Kelly Docimo. Son's: Edward, Mark, Kevin, Timothy, Terrence and Todd; 24 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his sisters Alice Ehmann, Dorothy Palmer, Florence Kaiser, Henrietta Rossi and his brother Phillip. Ed is predeceased by his eldest son, Michael, and his sister Arlene and brother James. A celebration of Ed's life is being planned for a future date.
