Di Preta , Orazio
Orazio (Giotto) Di Preta, 89, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday with his family by his side. Orazio was born on October 30, 1923 in Settefrati, Italy, to the late Celestino and Antonia Di Preta. Orazio continued to live in Seffefrati through his childhood and adult life. During this time, he proudly served during World War II He worked the land and cared for his farm animals to help support his siblings and later on his wife and children.
He immigrated to the United States in 1971 to provide a better life for his family. He worked construction until friends and family assisted him in securing a job at Pitney Bowes until he retired
He was an avid gardener, soccer fan, and an amazing caregiver to his grandchildren. His greatest pride and pleasure was spending time with friends and family especially on his Birthday.
Orazio was proud of his Italian heritage and loved living in the Untied States. He is survived by his loving son Salvatore and his wife Dolores of Warwick, Rhode Island, caring daughter Antonia D'Amico and her husband Jace, of Stamford , his adoring grandchildren Dawn Feret and her husband Brett, Antonio Canneto and Andrew DAmico and his cherished great-grandchildren Michael and Nathanael Feret. Orazio is also survived by his brother Felice Di Preta and his wife Giacinta, his sisters Clementina Vitti and Maria Zezima, sister in law Anna Di Preta, many nieces, nephews and good friends. Orazio was predeceased by his wife Carmela, brothers Giovanni, Luigi, Giuseppe, Benito and brother in law Rosino.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902 on Friday April 5, 2013 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:45AM on Saturday, April 6, 2013, and process to a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Parish, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, CT., at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at the Putnam Mausoleum of Putnam Cemetery in Greenwich.
