Montgomery Davis, Nettie
Nettie Montgomery Davis entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2013 at the age of 87. She was born August 4, 1925. She is the daughter of the late John and Margaret Montgomery of Greeleyville, SC. She relocated at a young age to Stamford, CT where she met her late husband, Percy Davis.Mother Davis is a graduate of Stamford High School, and Merrill's Business School. She was the State Secretary, Program Director, Mistress of Ceremonies, founder of Heavenly Zion Choir, Sunday School Teacher at Wilson Memorial COGIC under the late Bishop W. M Wilson and Elementary school teacher.She was the mother of triplet boys: Morris, Orrin, and Myron, all predeceased. Surviving are two daughters: Missionary Jennifer Jones (Elder David Jones) of Denver, CO; and Malverna Streater (Rev. Robert Streater, III) of Tallahassee Florida; and one son Frank Robert Cummings (Denise) of Stamford, CT. She is survived by one brother, Ira Montgomery and sister-in-law, Louise Montgomery. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Montgomery, two sisters Ruth Montgomery, Gardenia Rice and one brother-in-law, Joseph Rice; all of Stamford, CT. Sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends. Mother Davis had a special love that extended to Mr. Frank Cummings, Renee Blackmon, Valerie Jenkins, Sharon Williams and Michelle Layton-Alexander.The calling hours will be on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM. Home going services will follow at 11:00 AM at Wilson Memorial Church of God In Christ, 164 Richmond Hill Ave, Stamford, CT. Bishop Charles H. Brewer, Jr. will eulogize and Elder Harold McCoy will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Lester Gee Funeral Home, 1390 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport.
