Stephen J. Boccuzzi of Doylestown, PA died peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Doylestown Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 58 years old.
Stephen was the husband of Jayne Santora Boccuzzi for 34 years and father of Lori, Ann Marie, and Stephanie. He was the son of Ralph J. and Corinne Matteis Boccuzzi of Stamford.
He is also survived by his brother Bennett, his sisters Rosemary and Joanne, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was the son-in-law of Margaret and the late Daniel Santora formerly of Port Chester, NY and the brother-in-law of Dena Giorgi.
Stephen was a devoted family man, a committed father and loyal husband.
Born in Stamford, on June 4, 1955 he led the way for his siblings as he worked hard at school, was active in sports, Boy Scouts, photography, church ministry, and community service. He attended Fairfield College Preparatory School where his passion for learning was born from the Jesuit ideals.
Stephen's academic accomplishments include a BS in Nursing from Fairfield University, a MSN as a Cardiovascular Clinical Specialist from Catholic University, a MBA from St. Joseph's University and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Maryland.
Stephen was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. He held several adjunct faculty positions, authored numerous peer-reviewed journals, and sat on the editorial review boards of several medical journals.
Stephen was passionate about his career. He joined Otsuka in 2012 as Vice President of Health Economics and Outcomes Research and Field Medical Strategy. He also worked for Medco Health, Sanofi-Aventis, IMS Health, Aetna Health Information Solutions, and Merck. He began his career working in clinical research and preventative and rehabilitative services at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the National Naval Medical Center, both in Bethesda, MD.
Viewing will be Wednesday, July 24, 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Thursday, July 25, 9:00 to 10:15 AM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave., New Britain, PA. Funeral Mass is Thursday,11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA. Interment will be at St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephen's name to Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, 5218 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19141.
